The drillship Fatih discovered a new natural gas reserve of 58 billion cubic meters in the Çaycuma-1 well in the Black Sea.

The natural gas reserve in the Black Sea has reached 710 billion cubic meters with the latest discovery.

Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, makes a statement on the natural gas reserve.

The land processing plant, which will process the gas on land, is 85 percent complete. The installation was prepared to process 10 million cubic meters of gas per day in the first phase and 40 million cubic meters of gas in the second phase. Work on the station to connect the produced gas to BOTAŞ’s main transmission system has been completed. We have so far drilled 10 wells on the seabed. We are continuing here by drilling more than 30 additional wells. In 2026, we will have completed all drilling operations. We have colleagues in the field, 5,500 on land and 2,500 at sea.

On October 29, our Fatih driller went to the Çaycuma -1 region. According to this discovery, the producible reserve is 58 billion cubic meters. Right next to Sakarya gas field. With the discovery of Çaycuma, we have reached a total of 710 billion cubic meters of reserves. We have revised the reserve from 540 billion cubic meters to 652 billion cubic meters. Our teams are working at full speed. By the 100th anniversary of the Republic, we will have given this gas to the system by the end of March.
