At the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) meeting, public transportation fares were increased by 29.10 percent.
UKOME Extraordinary Meeting, chaired by IMM Secretary General Can Akın Çağlar, with the agenda to raise public transport fares, Yenikapı Dr. It was held at the Architect Kadir Topbaş Show and Art Center.
During the meeting, the 29.10 percent increase in public transportation fares offered by IMM was discussed.
In this context, full electronic ticket fare from 7.67 lira to 9.90 lira, student electronic ticket fare from 3.74 lira to 4.83 lira, teacher electronic ticket fare from 5.49 lira to 7.09 lira, full subscription fee of 602 lira to 777 lira, student subscription fee increased from 109 lira to 140 lira.
In taxis, the taximeter opening fare is from 9.80 TL to 12.65 TL, yellow taxi distance fare is from 6.30 TL to 8.51 TL per kilometer, yellow taxi timetable is from 67.20 TL to 100, 80 TL per hour, and the yellow taxi is a short distance fare increased by 42 percent from 28 lira to 40 lira.
The shortest hop-on hop-off distance in the minibus has been increased from 5.25 lira to 7 lira.
The fare for the longest distance in Marmaray was increased from 16.97 lira to 21.91 lira, and the fare for the longest distance on the metrobus was increased from 11.38 lira to 14.69 lira.
SCHOOL SERVICE COSTS
School bus fares, on the other hand, were increased by 19.95 percent, effective the second semester of the year. In this context, the distance rate up to 1 kilometer was increased from 660 lira to 792 lira.
Staff service charges were increased from 352.15 lira to 422.41 lira for minibuses with 10-17 seats.
Serdar Yücel, the first regional director of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, disagreed with the decision.
In his speech, Yücel said that one of the most important basic tasks of local governments is public transport.
Yücel stated that he has reservations that such a pay rise will direct people to individual vehicles instead of public transport.
IMM Deputy Secretary General Buğra Gökçe stated that the sensitivity to subsidize public transport is correct and appropriate, and that they subsidize public transport.
Gökçe drew attention to inflation and stated that they also continue to invest in public transportation and rail systems for Istanbul’s traffic.
On the other hand, the new rate with regard to the increases will take effect on 1 January 2023.
