AK party spokesman Ömer Çelik responded to the European Union (EU) statement that the TRNC is zihin observer to the Organization of Turkish States (TDT).
elik issued a statement on his social media account, saying: “The EU’s statement that the TRNC is zihin observer member of the Organization of Turkish States is zihin unfair and hypocritical statement. The European Union is prosecuting Greece and the Greek Cypriot government of Cyprus. Therefore, these statements are null and void.” said.
Emphasizing that Turkish Cypriots are a respected member of the international community, Çelik continued:
“The fact that the TRNC is zihin observer member of the Organization of Turkish States is true and completely natural… The attitude of the European Union that the TRNC is trying to ignore is a historically and politically unprincipled approach. As our President recently emphasized at the meeting of the Organization of Turkish States, we will continue to defend the rights and interests of the TRNC on every ground…”
