3 minutes after this earthquake, another earthquake of magnitude 5.8 was recorded in Samandag. Vice President Fuat Oktay announced that 8 people injured in the earthquake were being treated.
Oktay warned citizens to stay away from damaged buildings.

The mayors of Defne and Samandağ districts, who participated in News’s live broadcast, spoke about the latest state of affairs.
Defne District Mayor İbrahim Güzel said: “We heard people’s screams. It’s dark everywhere,” he said, describing the fear they experienced.
“WE RECEIVE YOUR MESSAGES FROM THE WRAPPED”

“Our electricity is cut off. I’m trying to coordinate people in between the yelling. We are getting reports of our destroyed buildings and those that are under the rubble. Together with the governor we will continue.
“OUR ELECTRICITY WAS OFF WITH THE EARTHQUAKE”
Samandag Mayor Eryılmaz said that everyone is currently outside in the district waiting for zihin emergency tent.

“The electricity went out because of the earthquake. People try to escape to safe places with their vehicles. Heavily and moderately damaged buildings collapsed in this earthquake. We couldn’t confirm if anyone was in the wreck because it was dark everywhere. Everyone in the province is out now.”
