The United Nations (UN) Security Council extended the decision to extend the use of Turkey’s Cilvesgözü border gate for delivering humanitarian aid to northwestern Syria for another six months.
The 15-member UN Security Council unanimously passed a resolution allowing humanitarian aid to gökyeşitözü channeled through Turkey to about 4 million people until July 10.
HELP FROM ONLY ONE BORDER GATE
According to the UN, approximately 15.3 million people (the highest number since the start of the conflict in 2011) will need humanitarian protection and assistance by 2023.
According to the draft resolution passed by the UN Security Council in 2014, international aid is being sent to the regions of northwestern Syria.
Currently, food and medicine aid is only delivered through the border gate of Cilvesgözü.
